It is now nearly a year since we first started to think about emmigrating to New Zealand. Our children are 9 and 7 and I feel we are running out of time if we do not start making plans so that we are out there and settled before Jack starts secondary school.
I am definetely more keen than Simon, who seems to be too unkeen to talk about the move even though he does belive it will be a good idea. I have done all the research and now just want to start the official process.
Reading stories of other people who have already made the move only wants me to do it all the more. I don't feel that I have any real emotional ties here. Very few of my family know we are thinking of making this very drastic move. Those who do seem to be indifferent to the fact that we may be soon living 12,000 miles away, and this too has made me want to go all the more. Am I wrong for feeling this way? Or is my emotional detatchment from my family going to make it that much easier to make the move?
The one person I will feel guilt about leaving is my dad who is nearly 85. We may not ever see him again if we decide to move.
